Managing your Reputation Online

Some people say that if you’re not pissing people off, you’re not doing your job. That can be true, especially if you’re pushing forward making noise in your industry. You can’t please everyone, and if you tried, you’d never see the potential of your company.

But should you care when people complain about you on the internet?

Yes. Like your sisters name on the towns water tower, you should be concerned.

Relating to Your Audience

For the last couple of days I’ve been battling a soar throat and doing my best to remain sanitized and away from the rest of the family. Outside of my throat being sore though, I never felt achy, coughy, sneezy, or fevery, which was a good thing. But yesterday, Ethan (my 7 year old) felt I was getting too much attention and decided he was going to one up me with a fever.

Being sick can probably seem pretty interesting to a child, laying around all day, watching cartoons, playing video games maybe, or if it’s the school year, being able to stay home.

Everyone’s a Guru

As Social Media came on the scene just some few years ago, it went from being the cool thing for teens to do, to young professionals and grandparents signing up and using it. As the last few years have passed a variety of tools and add ons have come aboard tingling the nerves of marketing guys around the world causing them to flock to their online profiles and websites claiming to be gurus in this popular new communication industry. Till this day, I’m confident that the majority of marketing guys who spent 24 hours or less on a social network changed their Bio to add the words “Social Media Guru” in order to take advantage of the numerous people who were technology illiterate.

Whenever Corporations get involved in new trends they seem to always find a way to sterilize the market with their attempts to reach young buyers, and so has it, social networking sites are riddled with information updates and nothing else. Companies that don’t get the concept of social networking find themselves either giving up or continuing to pour money into this new tool with no return.

A cool new concept with Checkin™ features launched late last night on the iPhone. Although the site had launched earlier in the day, the iPhone app was awaiting approval and last night as I sat with the developer at the Downtown PourHouse in Orlando, the approval came in. The excitement was muffled by the raging Magic fans cheering their team on in the 4th quarter, but nonetheless the approval brought high fives around the table.
